These notes follow the Mac app, now at version 2.0.5. The app for iPhone and iPad ships on its own schedule and is at version 1.2.4: its release notes are in the version history of the App Store listing.

VNC on the Raspberry Pi

  • VNC reaches wayvnc servers through a VeNCrypt X.509 bridge: that is the VNC server a Raspberry Pi starts by default now that Wayland is the standard there, and the one no browser-based VNC client knows how to talk to

RSA-AES VNC, and the transfers that stopped after one file

  • VNC connects to RSA-AES servers (RealVNC Server, wayvnc, and macOS Screen Sharing in ARD mode) and checks the server's identity on every connection
  • Dropping several files into the SFTP panel uploads all of them; only the first one was ever sent
  • Browsing folders on an FTP server works again: operations are queued one at a time per session
  • Double-clicking a favourite or a recent connection no longer opens the same session twice
  • The MCP settings are split into Server, Scope and Clients instead of one long scroll
  • The upload conflict dialog holds a hundred files, and each file can be dropped from the batch before sending

Serial console, a real ICMP ping, and iCloud sync that stops losing secrets

  • Serial console: plug a USB-to-serial adapter into a router's console cable, pick the port and the speed, and type in the same terminal as an SSH session, at 9600 8N1 by default, which is what Cisco and Juniper consoles expect
  • Ping is a real ICMP ping in the Mac App Store build. It used to open a TCP port and report 100% loss for perfectly healthy machines that simply were not listening on it
  • Traceroute is back in the Mac App Store build: the sandbox never blocked it
  • The port test is its own tool, separate from ping: ICMP has no ports
  • RDP refuses a server certificate that has changed instead of accepting it silently, and the pre-TLS RDP security layer is no longer offered by default
  • Deleting a server now removes its password, passphrase and private key from iCloud; they used to stay there indefinitely
  • Unticking “save the password” holds, including against iCloud sync, and saving a profile on the Mac no longer erases a refusal made on the iPhone
  • Claude Desktop connects to the MCP server in one click, with nothing to copy by hand, and a one-gigabyte file transfers without the call timing out
  • The Connections sidebar can be resized and collapsed, and the keyboard shortcuts tab is genuinely customizable
  • Missing French accents, and French typography that was being imposed on the other languages

German, and an AI assistant that opens its own sessions

  • Complete German localization: the interface speaks English, French, German and Spanish
  • On a first launch the app follows the language of the Mac instead of always starting in French
  • The AI assistant can open, list and close its own SSH sessions through the MCP server. It is off by default, and every server is granted or excluded from a single screen
  • The MCP server exposes twenty tools, including editing a remote file in place and changing permissions
  • Mistral, and any OpenAI-compatible endpoint such as LM Studio, Ollama or OpenRouter, alongside Claude, OpenAI and Gemini
  • Terminal: Ctrl+C interrupts again, a copy no longer crosses into another tab, and pasting a multi-line script no longer reformats it
  • Importing ~/.ssh/config produced wrong profiles, in both of the formats that were tested
  • RDP failures give a readable reason instead of a silent error code
  • The App Store listing announced fifty-two languages for an interface that speaks four; it now announces four

Reorder servers, deploy a key, open a tunnel without reconnecting

  • Reorder servers inside a folder by dragging them, instead of living with the order they were created in
  • Install a public key on a host from an SSH session that is already open: the equivalent of ssh-copy-id, with no extra credentials asked for
  • Open a local, remote or SOCKS tunnel on a running session, without editing the profile and reconnecting
  • A jump-host indicator in the status bar, naming the path when a session goes through one or more jump hosts
  • Reconnecting ignored the jump chain and left ghost bounce sessions behind
  • Cmd+K quick connect works for Telnet and SFTP profiles too
  • A failed disk write no longer loses a saved password, and a folder no longer disappears when its last server is moved out of it

RDP audio, and a faster app everywhere

  • RDP plays the remote machine's sound on the Mac
  • RDP: horizontal scrolling, and the characters and accents behind the Option key reach the remote desktop
  • RDP encodes only the regions of the screen that changed and moves keyframe encoding onto its own thread, for smoother video and lower latency
  • Copy and paste in the terminal work on every keyboard layout, including the ergonomic Latin ones; clipboard access from the remote host (OSC 52) is now an explicit opt-in
  • Middle-click pastes the clipboard into the terminal
  • A faster app throughout: terminal flow control and batched IPC, a remote editor loaded on demand, cached session views, and an asynchronous local file listing
  • The AI assistant answers in your language instead of always answering in French

What is next
