SSHive Agent

Install SSHive Agent

It is one disk image, downloaded from sshive.app and opened once. After that it starts on its own with every session.

By Lucas Russo, developer of SSHive · Updated

  1. Download SSHive Agent from sshive.app/agent, button Download SSHive Agent. In SSHive, the same button opens that page.
  2. Open the downloaded file, SSHive-Agent.dmg.
  3. Drag SSHive Agent onto the Applications folder.
  4. Open SSHive Agent from the Applications folder. Its window says: "SSHive Agent is running. SSHive can use the keys of Strongbox, 1Password, Secretive, Bitwarden, gpg-agent and yubikey-agent. The keys stay in their app."
  5. Click OK to close the window. It keeps working, and will now start with every session.

macOS shows a notification saying a background item was added: that is SSHive Agent, and it is expected.

If macOS asks for your approval

The window says "macOS is waiting for your approval: turn on SSHive Agent in System Settings, Login Items."

  1. Click Open System Settings.
  2. In System Settings > General > Login Items, list Allow in the Background, turn SSHive Agent on.
  3. The window of SSHive Agent turns to "SSHive Agent is running".

If you opened it from the downloaded file

The window says "Move SSHive Agent to the Applications folder so that it starts with your session." Click Move to Applications. If the move fails, drag it into Applications yourself, then open it.

Check it from SSHive

Settings > Connection > SSH Agent, card SSHive Agent: Active, version 1.0.1. If SSHive had opened its own window about it, it now says the agent is answering, and you can close it.

Applies to SSHive 2.0.8 on Mac
